Joseph is loved by Jacob and hated by his brothers. Their jealousy leads them to sell him into slavery, sending him away from home and into Egypt.
In Egypt, Joseph suffers false accusation and imprisonment, yet the Lord is with him. God gives him wisdom, and Joseph rises to authority under Pharaoh.
When famine brings his brothers to Egypt, Joseph eventually reveals himself and forgives them. His words in Genesis 50:20 become one of the Bible's clearest statements of providence.
