Three Hebrew men refuse to worship a golden image and are delivered from a burning furnace.
Setting and Context
Daniel 3 shows faith under empire pressure. The issue is not private belief only, but public allegiance: will God's people bow to the king's image, or trust the Lord even if deliverance is uncertain?
The Story
Nebuchadnezzar sets up a great image and commands all peoples to fall down and worship when the music sounds. Whoever refuses will be cast into a burning fiery furnace.
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refuse. They tell the king their God is able to deliver them, and even if He does not, they still will not serve his gods or worship the image.
The furnace is heated seven times more than usual. The three are bound and cast in, yet the fire does not consume them. The king sees four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God. They come out unharmed, and the king blesses their God.
