The Story
Jesus sits over against the treasury and watches how people give. Many that are rich cast in much. The scene looks impressive by ordinary measures of amount.
Then comes a certain poor widow, and she throws in two mites, which make a farthing. The gift is almost invisible beside the large donations.
Jesus calls His disciples and teaches them that the widow has cast more in than all the rest. They gave of their abundance; she cast in all that she had, even all her living.
Meaning and Importance
Jesus watches people cast money into the treasury. Many rich cast in much, but a poor widow casts in two mites. He tells His disciples she has cast in more than all, because she gave all her living.
