Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 5, 2026
1. What We Collect
Free users: We do not require an account, analytics, cookies, or tracking. The Bible reader can run in your browser, and online search requests are processed by Vesper's servers to return results.
Email subscribers: If you choose to join the Vesper update list, we collect your email address, signup page, consent timestamp, and basic request metadata such as referrer and browser user agent.
Registered users (Lite & Pro): When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and Google profile ID. We store your bookmarks, highlights, notes, and reading history in our database to enable cross-device sync.
2. AI Search
Vesper's AI-powered semantic search uses a local BGE embedding model inside Vesper's server environment. Search queries are sent to Vesper only to generate the query embedding, search the Bible database, and return results. Queries are not sent to Hugging Face or another third-party AI inference provider. Search history is stored only for signed-in Pro and Theologian users to support account features.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use your data only to provide the Vesper service:
- Sync bookmarks, highlights, and notes across your devices
- Track your reading history so you can pick up where you left off
- Process subscription payments through Stripe
- Send transactional emails (receipts, subscription changes)
- Send product updates and Bible study resources if you explicitly join the update list
We do not sell, share, or monetize your personal data in any way.
4. Third-Party Services
- Google OAuth: Used for authentication only. We receive your name and email.
- Stripe: Processes payments. We do not store your credit card information. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
- Neon (PostgreSQL): Hosts our database. Your data is encrypted at rest and in transit.
- Vercel: Hosts the application. See Vercel's Privacy Policy.
5. Data Retention
Your data is retained as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data (bookmarks, highlights, notes, reading history) is permanently deleted within 30 days.
6. Your Rights
You may request to access, export, unsubscribe, or delete your data at any time by contacting us at support@terronex.dev. Vesper update emails also include an unsubscribe link that removes you from future marketing or product-update emails.
7. Children
Vesper is available to users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. The free version requires no personal information.
8. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated via email to registered users.
